Garage
Anyone seen this before?

for sale locally, was wondering if its a must-have or if its info typically available on the net/forums.

Quote:
1999 edition
Contains information about upgrades, tech tips etc, very helpful with exploded diagrams of most parts, I found this more useful than the haynes manual
its 172 pages.

These are good for a limited amount of information. If it is under $25 it is nice to have. I got a couple of year specific Porsche Technical Bulletin books (273 pages) on eBay ($25 ea----some still listed)

The parts PET are on the net directly from Porsche:
Porsche Classic Original Parts Catalogue - Classic Genuine Parts & Literature - Porsche Classic - Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG

Pelican also has the same info:
Pelican Parts Porsche Parts Diagrams and Locator

A lot of information (WSMs) is easy to get on the net. The book is a nice reference for your library.

The thing that seems strange to me, is that it only covers water cooled models up to 1988, despite the fact that it is the 1999 edition of the publication. Do I need to add a WTF?

1999 Edition = last revision. Haynes and Clymers get updated every year or two...my bikes manual covers 1975-1983 and is the 14th edition from early 2000's.

I believe that is because the model run either ended on that particular year, or there were MAJOR changes in the model, at that time. But I think the 944 model ran all of the way up to 1991. The last 4 of those years were 16V (except for the turbo), but I see no legitimate reason that they should not have included them.

I have an earlier version, and it's nice to have. Certainly not a "must have", but the parts guys sure like it when you give them a part number instead of asking for "The Gizmo that sits behind the Thing-a-ma-jiggy under the Do-hicky".

Could you scan it up into a PDF, and put it on clark's garage, with the other pubs, for us?

I plan on doing that with the Teknik [944 Turbo - DME - KLR - Test Plan - '85] publication that I have a copy of.

Don't ask me why it says '85, when the turbo didn't even come out until a year later.

The turbo was introduced in mid-1985, as an '86. You can tell the difference from a true '86, however- The 1985 turbos had no third tail light in the rear hatch, while the '86s did.

They were very likely sold as '85s in Europe. I don't know for sure.
