.. I guess a barn find is what you call this...

Hello everyone,

Well I have come across a free 1987 Porsche 944 Automatic :/. Either way, the car, has been sitting for 5 years in one spot. I know that it needs new brakes, rotors, all fluids (oil, coolant, power steering, brakes), needs new battery...

This brings me to a few questions.
1. How do I drain (and to where) the old fuel that is in the tank? yes it has been there for 5 years, I dont know how much of it is in there yet, as the battery is absolutely dead, and I need to replace it, or maybe recharge?
2. What other things should I look at before I attempt to fire it up again?

Thanks for help!

-Paul

All you mention above is the least of your worries rigth now, since the car has been sitting that long (Timing belt -Balance shaft belts as to be check & done ASP .Because if you do as much as turn the car over they migth breake & you'll end up in a mess(specialy bent valves) ,damage to the head could be very costly. Then once that done you can think about (oil -fluid ect ect).

many barn'd, garage'd, forgotten 944 automatics were set aside due to the flex damper failing....think of it as a big rubber disk shock (torque) absorber (that costs $1200) between the transmission and the engine....and imagine its condition after all these years.
