Help... can't open door from either side

I replaced the passenger side exterior door handle linkage rod on my '87 944. I replaced the linkage rod, put the door handle back on the door and closed the door. When I went to open the door the door handle lever was jammed. I realized I forgot to mate the shaft on the lever mechanism to the indentation on the linkage rod. So I went to open the door from the inside and was bewildered to find that it wouldn't open from the inside either. I had removed the door panel before doing this repair (for a separate reason) so I tried to force the linkage rod down from the inside of the door but it didn't work. I checked the power door locks and they're work fine. Can anybody tell me how to get the door open??? Last edited by 1968-912-coupe; 11-16-2010 at 06:23 PM.. | ||

It's odd the inside quit working - can't quite image why. It shouldn't a been affected by why you did. Does the door lock actually operate? Or did that linkage fall off in the locked position? Normally, a Slim Jim would work pretty well. You could probably get one of those from a locksmith or maybe Harbor Frieght.
