Rattles in Dash

I don't know about everyone else but I hate to drive a car that has little annoying rattles!
My 86 951 has been fairly quiet until recently. It started small behind the instrument panel and was easy to ignore at first. It grew progressively over the last few months until I was driven to dismantle the dash on the drivers side. I found that the rattle was coming from the instrument cluster its self.

I removed the screws that hold the instrument cluster to the bezel assy and was able to get a better look at the insides if the cluster. The rattle is coming from an area inside of the speedometer. I can't readily see anything loose inside the cluster but when I shake it I can hear the same rattle heard when its installed in the car.

My question is: How difficult is it to disassemble the speedo from the cluster? Is there a procedure or instructions on line some where or is this a job best left to the experts? Or maybe I should just get a radio installed, turn it up and just ignore the rattle.

Thanks for the help, Threesticks.

The Speedo comes right out of the cluster after you remove a few screws.

Disassembly isn't too difficult as I recall, there are a few tech articles about taking them apart.

One word of warning though, if you screw up, it is rather expensive to replace.

While you have the assembly apart, clean up your ground connections and replace the foam rubber weatherstripping around your center air vents - after you take that apart it tends to rattle too.
