in my '84 944, i personally run castrol gtx 20w50 down here in florida. i've been running it since 2001, from 68k miles at purchase to 105k miles right now. she seems to be doing all right on dino, and i just can't bring myself to bother switching to synthetic.

I have been using Mobil 1 15-50 and add zddp myself from LR. I will be switching to Amsoil on my next change however (and add zddp) or use the race oil with it in it. I'll see how that goes. my car has 130K and a lot have been on the track.

Castrol GTX 20-50
Change the oil and filter every 3 or 4 thousand miles
No oil leaks on FOES-front of engine seals-- in over 13 years on both cars
AZ summer temps are over 100 degrees for 4 to 5 months

Redline 20W50.

Picked a case up on ebay for $72 shipped. Cheaper then Mobil 1 (at that price!) and supposedly better.

15w-50 or 20w-50 in the summer and 10w-40 in the winter.

I am sure Ernie, or someone else can post the ownersmanual page with the oil viscosity preferences.

Oh gawd, am I actually participating in an oil thread?

Valvoline VR-1 20-50 and a Mahle filter from Pelican. I'll also run Hastings or Baldwin without hesitation. Got the VR-1 because it was convenient and has the ZDDP. I'd really rather be running a 10-40

I started running Mobile 1 10w-30 then went to Penzoil platinum 10w-30. Then recently i have been running Shell Rotella 10w-30(40)? it's cheap and is a great oil.

I'm going to give valvoline vr1 20w-50 a try here in the summer and see how it works out.

My car is dedicated for track use and I put Brad Penn 20W50 racing oil.
I used to put Mobil 1 15W50 full synthetic when I was driving it on the road. It has 96000 miles on it.

0w-40 or 5w-40 in winter works (flows well when cold)

10w-50 or 15w-50 for summer is good. If it's super hot out 20w I suppose...?
