need new clutch: Sachs or Centerforce?

Hi fellas, despite my (Goodbye 944) post earlier, my wife and I have decided that keeping the 944 and replacing the clutch would be still cheaper than buying another car (Civic? ugh).

So, I am going to go with another spring-centered disc. The question is, which kit? The one that needs replacement is a spring-centered disc (Racemaster?) and has lasted 90k. Pretty good, but I saw a Centerforce unit on http://www.nopionline.com/partdetails.asp?ProductID=365052
and am wondering if it'll hold better and last longer. AND it's cheaper (but that raises more questions). An SFR supercharger is being considered, and getting a clutch that claims to hold 90% better would be worth it.
Has anyone used the Centerforce Clutch before? Smoothness is not much of a concern after living with a spring clutch and lightened flywheel for the last 6 years, as long as reliability is there. Besides, I'm pretty good at heel-and-toe downshifting now

Never had a centerforce clutch, but I am a big fan of sachs.

gforces,

a few years ago I got an overstock or for some reason cheap (little over $100) centerforce disk by itself. Wayne, pelican didn't exist then as far as I know. It is still holding up good with 70,000 miles on it. Car is 924t.

Thanks for the input fellas. I just spoke to the local Porsche mechanic here (CT Automotive in Los Gatos, CA), and he said the Centerforce is a good clutch also (had one in his S2)--and if I could save some dough on it, get it.

He also said the Sachs unit is good, and it's OEM, but with a spring-center.

I'm going with the Centerforce. I know that the hard-core American V8 drag-racers stand by them--and that's a lot of abuse to stand up to.

I asked if anyone uses a Centerforce clutch on the mailing list. I got one response. He had the Centerforce clutch for some time, did a few track events and hasn't had any problems.

When it comes time to do mine, I'll cry a little bit first. Then, I'll use a Centerforce clutch.

I installed a Centerforce Clutch on my '79 924 and it works great. Just remember to do the pilot and throwout bearings while you're at it and also have the flywheel resurfaced.
