Help! Front Wiper Motor - Three Questions
The front wiper motor for my 85.5 is pretty far gone, and I have three questions:
1. I've tried rehabbing the core of the motor, and am trying to re attach the inner electrical board (the one with the three brushes attached) back into the unit - but am having a heck of a time pushing the three rubber prongs back into their holes. Any hints about how to do this? 2. I will likely need to trash this motor, and in the meantime, if I want to run the car (temporarily) without it, would I still need to re-install it in its non-working state, as other electrical components might be affected by its absence? Maybe this seems like a strange question...but I know that certain components are required to be in place to maintain electrical continuity for other (seemingly unrelated) components. 3. In the meantime, I've been looking for a replacement motor, and am confused by the phrases: "for year '85 and earlier models," and "for year '86 and after models." My guess is that my 85.5 would fall into the "86 and after" category. But is this correct? Thanks! |

1) Not a clue... when they are toast, time to replace it.
2) Not having a wiper motor in the circuit will not affect anything else. 3) Look for an "86 and newer" motor.
