Upgrade single fan to twin fan questions

Have acquired a twin fan to replace the single fan on my 84' 944 (No air-con version). Having just done a bit of further research it seems that the twin fan models also have a twin relay which controls them. Has anyone on here done this conversion before? Was wondering if I can just get away with patching the second fan on the existing single fan lead? If not how do I go about replacing the single relay with the twin relay?

Why do you need a twin fan setup? .My car doesn't need one even for Autosolos on hot days, where 1st flatout drives are followed by queuing for the next run.

Car was getting quite hot when stuck in traffic for prolonged periods even with the fan running. Will be changing the thermostat too.

I got my mechanic to empty and flush the whole system when it had a service last week and he said the water that came out didn't look too bad. He was going to do the thermostat but didn't have a pair of long enough right angled circlip pliers to get it out, so had to leave it for now.

In addition to the recommendations above, you would be better served to convert your single fan set up to a modern, low-draw aftermarket fan (like those available from Davies-Craig). Proper cowling will help with an aftermarket fan...but these units will have superior air flow to the OEM dual fan setup, with the added benefits of being lighter, and imposing less draw on your electrical system.

I appreciate your suggestions, but I have what I have to work with and that is what I hope to do.

It's a pain in the ass to get the second fan set up. extra relays that go threw the a/c Might be able to get away with building a wiring harness that have two fan connectors. But you might pull too many amps... anyways I don't think that will be a problem.
