Body and upholstery look 99% perfect

Spent about foutyfive minutes looking at it, only imperfections I could find were carpet pulling away in the footwells and the plastic gasket around the ignition key was half inside the dash half out (possible broken and/or replaced?)
16" wheels (want 17" but these look nice)
different brand tires on front/back (not too surprising but firestone and futura... yuck)
Panel seam gaskets cracked in a few areas.
Could not find option sticker (looked all around spare tire area)
First close look at a 968... thinking of going back for a test drive if carfax shows no accidents.

any comment from the 968 camp?
I have some concern about the power steering/engine oil leak, I suppose I can tack on a few grand to fix that.
what about the carpet pulling away around the front of the doors by the foot wells is that typical?
The tires are in good condition but I don't like the brand(s) so at some later date they will have to be replaced.

Oh and I might as well drop the bomb...

Yes, The car has had five owners!
dealer claims to have service records and owners manual etc. also when looking for the option sticker did not see air pump but he may have removed it for safe keeping.
sticker in engine compartment claims timing belt done at 56K miles. There is a shell service sticker in there too (!?) possably someone had the car serviced at a shell station?

Seriously i would give $12-13k for that car...a power steering leak could be a rack and oil leak might be a gasket... also belts need to be done so you can take off $1500. Any word on the clutch?

I dont know how scarce they are in your area...but talk to your mechanic about the car and have a PPI.

I agree, this car could be looking at a few grand to fix up...
However I respect that the dealer told me about the leaks when they were not obvious (but a PPI would show them) the area where the car is located is a well todo beach community so Porsche mechanics are easy to find (there is a Porsche dealer a few blocks from this lot)
Have not driven the car and he did not comment on the clutch. There is plenty of tread on the tires but I don't like the brand(s) so they will have to be changed at some later date ($).

There are two other cars in the area I want to look at, both private parties: One may be an original owner car (very desirable) $15.5K but it is the less than desirable (for me) and very common red/black color combo.
The other is the very desirable amazon green - low miles - $17K and it is about a hours drive away.

I know many people buy a Porsche and don't blink at dropping some big money to fix them up. I understand the car is not going to be cheap to maintain but I am not a rich man (I just have expensive tastes) and I would rather not spend $15K plus on a car and immediately have to start pumping money into it!

Still wishing to find something with 17" wheels and maybe even a LSD.

I agree with you on the red/blk I got a wht/blk myself. The exterior can be touched up if need be as can the interior (try and match burgandy for example!). Zer Silver/blk is the best looking IMHO but if you ever had to do some touch up... Be patient -- your car will come.
