Timing Belt Questions Once again...

So I'm shopping around for a timing belt kit...(yes pelican too)...I came across Vertex Auto(Where I got my Clutch from)..The kit they have displayed is pretty cheap and seems to have what I need. I need help to make sure this is what I need. Also along with the Water pump(Since Pelican Parts is $NLA with this part). Any other parts Missing I need?

Timing Belt Kit - Porsche 924s 944 Belt Roller Kit: Engine Mechanical &amp Timing Related Parts

Water Pump - Porsche Water Pump New Updated Style 944: Engine Cooling &amp Water Pumps Thermostat or Porsche Water Pump Updated Style 944 - Rebuilt: Engine Cooling &amp Water Pumps and Related (rebuilt)

Thanks!

when you get the front cover off, pull the rear cover, too. Look for leaking seals around the balance shafts, front main seal, Camshaft seal (front and rear) and take the extra time to replace them while you're in there. These cars this old have a history of the rubber turning to plastic. I've been on a campaign to replace EVERY rubber seal in my engine, transmission and throttle body. Even if you have just one leak, others will surely follow. Outside of that, the belt kit you bought is all you need and you have the spring loaded timing belt tensioner so that makes it easier.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Agreed this is pelican parts forum, that said I try to buy here when they have the stuff I need but I like to buy "kits" instead of 1 part at a time. I have bought parts from here as well as Vertex. I have had no problems with either but when I ordered my rear wheel bearings from Vertex that had a "kit" and if you add up what Pelican sells piece by piece it cost more and the pelican parts sight is a little harder to navigate for me. Maybe Pelican can look into this?? As to the question I also agree about the seals etc. the timing belt kit I bought didn't include them and they should be done also.

Every one of us who has one of these great little cars at some point will reach out to others who are members of various forums for advice, whether its this one, RL or German cars forums. We've all dealt with different vendors and it's ok to talk openly about your issues or questons. I've told the people at Pelican that I've had to go to their competitors websites for answers to parts numbers and applications due to the difficulty of navigating their website and slowness in website response. They're a great resource and I've bought gobs of parts from them and they provide good support on the phone and they appreciated the feedback.

When it comes to seals for the engine or transmission, those "packages" (like entire engine gasket kits) are available but not incuded in belt kits. In many cars, buying all the extra seals simply wouldn't be needed if you just wanted to do the belts. I needed to get some seals for my transaxle and it was cheaper to buy the package then to buy the individual seals. It's all in the research.

I try to get everything I can from Pelican. Their service is great and some parts are higher-some lower. But no one supplier has everything we need for our cars. So sometimes I have to look around. I certainly see your point about buying a turn-key kit. Wayne may consider this in the future.
