'87 944 N/A Surging Issues
I have an '87 N/A which was pretty much rebuilt. Now as I am driving, it surges a little bit and seems to be a little under powered. I checked all of the vacuum lines and they are correct. Any other ideas?

Get some engine information with a compression and leak down test
Compression-leakdown test Remove the DME relay when you do a compression test! This will tell you the condition of the engine. Clean electrical connections and grounds-Porsche WSM first step. The surging is usually a vacuum leak. Even though you checked the vacuum lines, the leak will most likely be in the hoses to the ICV and intake hose connections under the intake manifold or the J-Boot air intake. There are a lot of WYAIT-While You Are In There- items to do when you take the intake off. Start with removing the J-Boot air intake. Check all the hoses for cracks and get new non perforated hose clamps or the OEM clamps- Oetiker Stepless Ear clamps. The throttle body should be rebuilt. Throttle Body Reseal kits for Porsche Check the AFM thoroughly: Air Flow Meter (AFM) Operation and Testing If these repairs do not solve the "little" surging/ "little power issue do the complete under intake maintenance. Get the injectors cleaned, resealed and matched-- WitchHunter Performance - Injector Cleaning & Flow Testing Services Clean the ICV Replace the AOS seals Replace hoses to the ICV and clamps Get the oil dipstick "O" ring $3 Then check the AFM for proper working condition.
