now a question front bumper

I have been putting my car together today and on the front bumper, pass. side, there is a small rubber trim piece that bolts to the very end of the bumper. Looks factory and there is not one for the drivers side nor any holes drilled for the 2 screws that hold it on. I wonder why it's there? whats it for? And why only pass. side? Looks like it may be there to direct wind? Or perhaps for cosmetics? Any one seen this before?

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Yep, I just removed the front bumper on my '84 last week to replace the pads and ran into the same thing. It sure appears it's to fill the gap between bumper and fender on the passenger side. I don't have one on the drivers side (or the attachment points) either. Perhaps because the fresh air intake for the engine is on the drivers side, just a guess.

I was thinking the same thing as far as wanting more air on the drivers side. But seems to stupid to me to have one so I left it off. Now both sides look the same. This seems to be a great explanation but I wonder if there is moor to it??? Any one??
