225s in front?

right now i run staggered 205 fronts with 225 rear, and i just dont like the idea of it for lots of reasons.

i love phone dials, so i wanna stick with that wheel.

so i quick slapped my 225s on the front and they seemed to fit really well. no rubbing at either lock, fit the wheel wells even better then 7s IMO. so im thinking of buying a set of 8 inch phone dials for the front.

anyone run with this setup? any complaints? too much oversteer?

What year is your car? I'll buy your 15x7 if they are ET52.3.

FWIW, we have 225/50 all around on our race car, and I have no complaints about the handling.

thanks, great, there are even a local set of 16x8s and 16x7s from an 86 turbo on CL.

the idea then is run some crappy hard ass all seasons on the 7s, and then my nice 140 treadwear autocross tires on the 8s .... best of both worlds.

225s

I ran 225s all 4 corners for a while and they looked great. No complaints. I only changed them because I went to some 17" that had 255 rear and 205 front. The 205 look kind of weak now.

Can someone post a pic of 8's with 225s on all 4 corners?

I too have 7 and 8 phone dials (which I love) and would like this monsterous 8" 225 thing on my car as well.

Thanks!

Jeff

225s fit on 7's or 8's.

I have no pics, but a fellow with an '86 951 autocrosses with 951 8"s up front an 911 9" in the rear. Looks great.. No rubbing. 225/245 tire combos.

I think my '86 944, the previous owner put 225's all around on 7's. It does have a little rub on my car.

I have 205's for the front that I bought for my new wheel set for the car. I prefer the smaller front tire in terms of handling, given my situation. I prefer maximum wet traction on my road car.

I used to autocross on 225s all the way around.

Works great. Much better than the 205 / 225 set-up.

My car came to me on 225s all around with 8" phone dials. Handled nice and neutral. I've since upgraded brakes and gone to 17" cupII wheels, 225 front and 255 rear. This has caused an understeer condition in fast sweepers. I've tinkered with suspension settings but now want to go to 255 fronts and get back to running square.

FYI, this is a track car with rolled fenders. The 17x9 ET55 w/ 255 track tires fit up front!

the 205's on the front of my 951 just suck for autocrossing. i just bought a set tonight, 225 fronts, 255 rears. i can't wait to get them mounted.

245's on the 951 must be possible due to rolled fenders, or something.... oh, and a much stiffer suspension. i am pretty sure i get a teeny bit of rub with my car and 225's while autocrossing, due to body roll.
