I love this 951...why did I wait so long?

Well, I got my torque tube swapped, and despite the transaxle making some truly horrid noises, I cant resist, and have been driving the car here and there.

All I can say is, wow. Such wonderful handling, great power, and I am just smitten by the beauty of it. As I get aquainted with the car, the controls, and feel, it just leeps getting better. I had an '88 924S, but it was npt the same as this 951.

Everything I wanted in a sports car. Just wonderful. Cant wait to get a new takeout transaxle so I can really enjoy it fully.

On accelleration, the trans quiets up...so I just stay on boost all the time! lol

I know I am preaching to the choir here, but I am truly amazed an enchanted by this car, a real race car with a license plate.

Thanks for all the help and advice, everyone!

Jeff

More fun to drive than the flat six converted 912?! Normally we're moving up to the 911 series, not the other way around

In ten years of Porsche 944 n/a ownership, I've never driven a 951, but your post is tempting me and I"ve been bitten by the the new car bug lately.

Thumbs up man! Glad you're reaping the fruits of your labor - it was a good price, but did need your TLC.

Just picked up a 951

I have only tracked/raced a 924S/944 NA. We've got those cars well sorted
and they are a blast.

I've only ridden in a 951 on the track.

Now that I own one, and I have done a 100 miles or so on the street.
The 951 feels wicked fast -- I can't wait to get on the track.

Theyre a total hoot: certainly one of the most unappreciated cars out there until you have one.

I bought my 86 951 in Feb. After 4 months of being in and out of the shop it is up to spec. I don't think I will ever get rid of this car. It is truly the best sports car for the money.

Yeah, the 912 was definitely cool, but less "refined", I guess. And the car needed a lot of work. I like the much more predictable handling ofthe 951 (the 912 was a twitchy ride, with itz short wheel base) and the 951s power is amazing.

Thanks Rasta, I think I have a line on one locally!

I hear that back in the eighties the only cars the highway patrol wouldn't even try to chase down were the turbo Porsches if they at speed.

One of the very best value for money genuine Supercars if you can enjoy them on the streets. Their abilities far outweigh the conditions which we can drive on our roads down here which is a real sham....errr...shame. That's why we run them on the track and with a few modifications they match and beat the latest rear engine models.
