Progressively runs poorer until won't start
I just completed a top end rebuild on my 944s 16V 1987.
It had been on blocks for six months, since the belt blew, and I twisted my valves like a cheap group of pole dancers...interesting, but nut upside. Nonetheless, i had the head done, and all was good. Also, while getting things together, I had the cams done by Web-cams. When we started it, the motor ran smooth, however, the top end wasn't getting oil. After replacing the one way check valve on the head, all was good. I drove it around the block, and it ran very well. Then, two blocks later it felt like I was on 3 cylinders. I got back to the house, went around the block a few more times, and parked it. I was able to start the motor a few more times, each time the motor was harder to start. Now it won;t start at all. A couple of items: 1) new plugs, cap and rotor 2) I cleared the fuel tank, cleaned the strainer, back-flushed the newish filter, and bench-checked the fuel pump. 3) New Master Blaster 2 MSD coil Any suggestions on what to look for? I would check that the rotor screw is still tight.
