Wink Replacing ancient tires

Just putting a stock 1985.5 944 back on the road. Of course it needs tires. It has on the original size 215/60VR15 on 15 inch Fuchs. They have trend, but are cranking, any ideas on a reasonable tire to replace this now NLA tire? What are you guys putting on the cars these days similar to stock? thanks.
Chris

#1 All-Season Tire for snow use.. (per Tirerack reviews)
Seems after about 15k, they get noisy and start cupping but the first year are great all around shoes for our cars...

Bridgestone Potenzas, there are several good performance radials under the Potenza name, it just all depends on what you're looking for. Check out Tirerack.com for more info.

I bought Falken ziez 512 from discount tire for under $400, good tire, but not VR and not made in CHINA.

Thanks, sounds like I need to check them out, tomorrow. I find that out here in Phoenix Discount Tire as prices as good, if not better than Tirerack.

Tirebuyer.com is usually cheaper than Tirerack plus they have free shipping in most cases.

I ended up with Kumho Ecsta AST tires - 215x55x15 and 225x55x15 on my NA. I'm pretty happy with the way they grip. Haven't tried them in snow yet.

I say forget about the 215's ,not many options out there and they are more expensive than they should be.
If you want to keep the 15" wheels go with 195/65 15 ,much wider selection of tires and are very cheap.
The difference in handling is negligible anyway from 215 to 195 , the sidewall is too big to get any real handling characteristics out of such tires , you would need to go with 16" or 17" wheels for that ( 16" is the perfect compromise between handling and comfort )

____ +1 on the 16" for handling & comfort,plus a larger choice of size.
