Alternator HELP

Hello I have a 85 944 not the 85.2. and I have a bit of an issue.
So i change my alternator belt yesterday because it has started to squeak and when I turned on the car today it started squeaking AGAIN. I don't know if it's to tight or not, because it seems really tight but I don't know if its the alternator.
please help

The alternator belt needs to be a lot tighter than most think, 3-4mm deflection at the longest span. If its still squealing though take the belt off and spin the pulley by hand. If it feels rough, gritty or hard to turn the alternator is on its way out.

Also give the pulley on the ac compressor a spin while you're at it.

About the A/C compressor pulley. My A/C compressor works pretty well but if I'm idling and I open the hood and look down I can hear a mechanical noisy sound coming from the pulley. What does that mean? Same thing as a noisy bearing? Can you replace just the pulley?

Yeah mine was doing the same so I ripped it out and blasted the hell out of it with compressed air all this dust and crap came out checked it over and put it back in. Got 99 problems but a squeaky alternator ain't one........

Yes. If it's a late 944, you'll need a AC clutch puller. The one that autozone has in their tool borrowing program works just fine. Once you get the clutch off the pulley is just held on by a circlip or two. The early ones come off too, but I don't remember what it takes to get them apart.

Okay, cool. Is it okay if I leave it alone for a while? It's not a hard sound or grinding sound, just a slightly noisy spinning sound.
