Side Marker Light - Reading Wiring Diagrams?
I'm re-attaching my front side marker lights, front turn signal, and fog lights. I know which pair goes to which set, but for 2 of them, I don't know which way on - ex. Brown to 1, White / Red / Yellow to 2, or if the rule is specific to the light.
The wiring diagram in the factory manual (Vol. 4, page 157 in my case) indicates the color of the wire, but doesn't say which number on the wire coming from the light (marked with 1 and 2). I've attached the wiring diagram below.

The brown wire is always ground on a Porsche. It should attach to the wire on the light socket that goes to the outer shell of the socket. You can check which one it is by using an ohm meter. In reality, it really doesn't make a difference since the light fixtures are not grounded through the housings, only through the ground wire, and light bulbs really don't care which way the current flows through them......
(edit)--it DOES matter on the turn signal light, since they are dual filament bulbs, but not on the fog or side markers
