Porsche Crest OT - Goodbye windows, hello Linux

Well, I just loaded Linux on my system to play with. Used Suse 8.0. So far I am impressed. It just flies on my system now (Athlon 1.6GHz with 768MB RAM) MUCH faster than windows. Will keep the system dual boot for a while - in any case, I am going to have to keep a windows box available to run PET...

Ahh well, I'm ranting...

Linux is great but it is still VERY lacking in a personal user type of situation. I'm very open minded and i think Linux is a great tool in the correct situations. Can be very complicated for all types of users. But very logical

I'd recommend getting Star Office. It's compatable with MS Office. Good luck with yer test. RedHat and Mandrake are also good distros. Enjoy (just don't plan on having much software support if you like games or things like that)

I've got SuSe 8.0, came with star office 5.2. So far I'm still enjoying it.

Use unix a lot at work, so it isn't too much of a leap.
