Okay so if I align the TDC marks on the flywheel and then align the marks on the cam tower before installing the cam tower. Will this put the engine in the right location for the timing belt to be installed?

Maybe, but I would use the small view port window located below the reference sensor connections. Move the engine around unit you see a "0T" in the window. Then double check your work making sure the #1 piston is all the way at the top of its compression stroke.

Yes right on the money! Just check again when the cam tower is bolted on that the cam and the TDC marks are on target. |

Just read that you are supposed to set the engine at TDC - 10 degrees. Any thoughts on this? Is TDC not right?

This is correct, when you install the new cam belt drop 10 deg, or 1 and 1/2 teeth. This way when you tension the belt it hits the mark perfectly.

No, you do NOT install the timing belt with the crank set at - 10deg from TDC. ALWAYS install the belt at TDC.
Setting the crank back 10deg is for adjustment purposes only. Re-read your manual.
