A sound when clutch is going bad
87 944 NA
when the clutch is going bad and the throttle is released - while still in gear, a rather loud grinding-like noise occurs. It is not a horrible loud deafening sound, but a few levels below that. I think it gets worse as the clutch gets worse. How exactly does release of the throttle produce this sound? |

it is the engine decelerating faster than the transaxle, thus the flywheel is turning against the friction disk and/or the pressure plate turning against the friction disk.
