LCD clock replacement part number difference?

I need a replacement clock for my 89 944. I tried the screen repair kit but it didn't help. The screen doesn't appear to be delaminated, and the light works so I think the board/chip itself is defective.

Looking at parts sites, I see the part has been superseded by a new clock, which looks like it was also used in the 968. This newer clock looks different, the center button is recessed and the casing/wiring connectors don't seem quite the same.

Looking at a picture of a 968 dash, the buttons were labeled 'C', 'temp', and 'F'. My clock has never worked but I don't believe it has a temperature readout. My buttons are not labeled.

Does anyone know if this later style of clock will work correctly in a 944, or should I look for the earlier LCD style?

the clock that came out of my car is part number 944 641 913 00 and the new part number is 944 641 913 00 01C

thanks very much for any help with this.

Look for the earlier LCD Clock. The one you describe in the 968 is for the outside temperature reading and is connected to the passenger mirror sending unit. Hate to say it but the earlier LCD Clocks can be found on ebay from time to time.

I have a working clock with a new LCD, $75 shipped. This is the one for the 944s, so clock only, not temp.

Thanks guys, buying a 968 one sounds like it would have been a big mistake.
