Weird idleing problem

Ok, new problem to solve! Its morning.. I start the car and let it idle.. It idles at 750. If I try to move it, it stalls a bit.. So, I let it warm up for a minute or two.. Idle is still at 750.. I take it up the street and over onto the freeway. It runs fine.. I get off the freeway and it idles at 950.. No more problem for the rest of the day!.. Next morning, same problem. Car is a 1983 944 N/A

.. Any ideas?
NOTE: I have cross posted this in facebook..

My low-level expertise can only suggest a low-level solution: have you cleaned the AFM?

And there is the Air Idle Control valve. You can find a great write-up on checking it (and seeing if the problem description says 'me too') at http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/911-forum/346141-bosch-idle-air-control-iac-valve-rough-idle-stalling-problem-cured.html

AFM is a possibility.. My early car won't have an ICV. Cars that would have them would be any car beginning at 85.5.and up. All 83-85.1 cars did not have them.. Thanks..

The "auxillary air regulator" could be gummed up. I had a couple of early 924s with the part.

Try pinching the vacuum line connected to the "aar" and see if anything changes---it should be open at cold idle.
