911 door hinge

I need some advice!
I removed the upper door hinge on my 1976 911. When I removed the last bolt, the backing plate inside the post came off and fell to the bottom. I don't know if it was simply welded on but in any event it has dropped. Any ideas on how to retrieve it other than cutting a hole in the post or an alternative fix?
Thank you all for your time!

did you mean to post this on the 944 forum?

can you put a magnet on a wire and try and fish it up?

Maybe if you ask on the (Pelican) 911 forum someone there will be able to provide you with the rigth answer. Good luck solving your door problem & take care.

Fair enough but give the guy a break, people on this section of the forum often have a 911 and 944 in the garage, someone could offer that help which ever model or a link to a former post in that section.......

You're going to have to fish it out because it's a pretty much sealed chamber.
