How come I can't simply put lowering springs on oem S2 front struts?
So I was wondering why I can't just put on a lowered spring on the front stock struts of my S2? Is it because no aftermarket company makes lowering springs for stock struts, or is there another reason why this can't be done?

It can be done, it just messes with the geometry of the front end, and without compensating for that, the only thing you gain is "that look"... Handling may not improve or may actually worsen, and you put extra stress where it wasn't designed to be.

it can be done. there are a few springs out there for the OEM seat diameter. in fact, that's exactly what the CS springs do on the 968. same rate, just 20mm lower.
as to "messing up the geometry" it all depends on how much you lower it. you can go about an inch without getting into trouble. however, you need to lower it in the rear too. you do have to identify which spring you currently have though, so as to determine rate and height. the spring rates and heights changed a few times on the 944 |
