1983 944 N/A Auto Trans hose leak, what type of hose to replace?
Hello all,
My son's 1983 944 N/A with Auto Trans is now up and running and almost road worthy. One hopefully easy question, there is a Trans cooler hose that runs from a hard metal line to a rubber hose and into the radiator. What hose type should I use to replace this hose? The auto parts store guys say no heater hose and or fuel injection hose, any ideas? Once we get this last thing fixed we will try it around the block. THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! |

Take the hose to your local hydraulic hose shop (Parker, Controlled Motion Solutions, Hoseman, etc) and they will set you up right for cheap.

You should be able to purchase AT hose by the foot from any parts store. I would try your local NAPA store.
Once you replace the hose, make sure that you have a proper fill level of ATF - these trans are very sensitive to ATF level.

Paul, there is a place off of 441 between Lee Rd and Colonial called "Amazon Hose", they have a website. I have bought stuff from there before, those are good people and the prices are great.

ATF line is the proper type of hose. Fuel line or vacuum line will degrade/dissolve with ATF running thru it.
