warning - clutch R&R and speed sensor clearance issues
encountered challenges that included dumping some coolant into the TDC hole and contaminated the new clutch disc.
here is the thread on the 944 turbo forum with more details. dumping coolant down the TDC hole on the bell housing may not apply as much to NAs, as I know from working on a 944S the HCV is in a different place. but correctly setting the speed sensor clearance would. warning - issue on clutch R&R and speed sensor clearnance

updated that post with retraction. my theory about the starter ring teeth being able to sit into the washer hole is WRONG.
also, it turns out I almost really messed up by having set the new pin on the flywheel way to long and it would have impacted the lower area of the bell housing. if not for having to replace the clutch disc, would not have discovered and corrected. that explanation also posted in that thread. so heed the warning in the Clarke's procedure to have that pin facing DOWN when putting the bell housing on. that way you know there will not be a clearance problem.
