I'm thinking of changing the yellow-numbered guages out of my 85.1 to the white-numbered guages from a 924S...Can anyone verify that they will work before I shell out the cash?

Good question.
Right off the top I've questions as to the fuel level sender and the temp sender. Might have different resistance curves. Have to check the schematics.

I think they are the same (stress on think). You may want to check around and see if you can get some aftermarket gauge faces before you shell out for new instruments.

I already tried the white faces, but I really don't like them. Plus I managed to screw up my tach in the process. I can get all three in the cluster for only $70, so I'm gonna go ahead and try them out and see what happens. I'll post the results.
