From the video, i see the passenger hatch strut power cable is disconnected, reconnect your wires and inside the bottom of the passenger hatch strut, there is a metal piece that needs to touch the metal rod and have it complete the circuit. You might need to bend it out or in to get it to contact the rod.
See where the red arrow is pointing, inside there is the metal tang that needs to touch the metal strut rod. That will fix the hatch not lighting up when the hatch is open. ![]() Last edited by fiily; 06-11-2015 at 04:31 PM.. |

Hello again! I managed to fix the hatch light and now is working fine, I had to do a switch inside that plastic thing on the bottom of the hatch strut because my hatch strut didn't have the plastic that stops the circuit, so I invented something that works, however the wire that comes out with the power for the metal that touches the rod wasn't doing nothing before I started this modification , the circuit was not working and by accident I discovered that if the wire touched the sphere where the hatch strut houses, the lights would turn on! So I did this :
![]() That copper wire is doing the connection between the sphere and the rod, and the metal inside the plastic is touching the rod and the power cable, when the hatch is closed the larger part of the hatch strut gets inside that plastic and stops the metal from touching the rod so the lights go off Is it OK? Is there a possibility of causing a short circuit? Let me know what you think of it! In case it makes difference : these are not the original hatch struts. I have power to the trunk dome light. Grounded anywhere, except at the ground end of the bulb holder, the light works. In any of the three positions the grounded end of the fixture is apparently not grounded. Where is this grounded to the body? I've cleaned the ground in the hatch just behind the spare wheel and it's good, so this is obviously not the place. Any ideas? Thanks!
