What to replace on Transmission

I have a 1983 944 that me and my dad are having SOooooo.... much fun restoring. I just found out that I have replace the oil pan gasket. Anyway, so we purchased this car and we found out that there's rust in the gas tank. We removed the transmission and I'm wondering, since it's out, are there any gaskets that I could replace just because? It was super dirty but then again, the car sat for awhile in who knows where. Thanks for any advice you might have.

There are not my things that could be replaced without disassembling it. You can replace the output flanges seals and the selector rod seal but you will have to extract the it out.

If you do the output shaft seals definitely do the input also. You could even skit the outputs, since they can be easily done with the tranny installed.
My input shaft seal is just started leaking pretty good...... looks like I'll have to pull the transmission out again....

I would recommend this very inexpensive upgrade while it's out:

Also, while the tranny is out, you may want to rebuild the torque tube as those bearings are quite old.

Output flange seals, input shaft seal, and give the transmission a decent cleaning with something like a citrus degreaser.

Rust in tank.

Replace the fuel tank strainer and sea.
1987 Porsche 924 S Coupe - Fuel System - Page 3

Replace the hose to the fuel pump.

Clean the fuel pump check valve.

Replace the fuel filter.

If fuel hoses cracked-replace.

Then go to the engine bay and check fuel lines.

Replace the FPR & FPD

Remove the injectors and send out for cleaning and reseal.

...a good start.
