Electrical Problem??
Okay a little history, I've had my car for a year now. Ever since I got it the CASIS never worked and the MPG gauge always stays to the right by 60. It never moves from there when I turn on the car. Also, in the ignition, if I just press where the key goes the accessories turn on. Whic is kind of weird.
Just now when I was coming home, I turned on my car and the MPG gauge and the CASIS was working. Then in less than a minute it all went back to normal. Can anybody tell me what wires to check out that could be causing this? Maybe a bad ground somewhere? I need help. -Gus. |

What year and model of car?
Please add this to your siginture line as this does determine the answer to your questions. I can guess by your handle that it's a 944. As to what you currently report; replace the ignition switch.

Sorry about that. It's a 1984. As to the ignition switch. I was wondering about that yesterday. Like I said, I would press on it and the accessories would turn on. All day yesterday I was pressing on it so the accessories would turn on, then when I started the car, the mpg gauge would work, but only for a couple of seconds.
Thanks. -Gus. |

All of the carpet on the drivers side. After coming back from school on Thursday. I parked my car and didn't drive it until yesterday. When I opened the door, I notice the back floor right behind the drivers was all wet. Completely soaked. I hop in, and heard a drop of water as it hit my foot. I knew exactly what it was. When I bought the car, it had an alarm. They drilled a hole through the firewall, right where all the water accumulates from the windshield, opposite the battery. The alarm was giving me trouble so I removed it. Leaving the hole right open.
Also, back to electrical problems. The buttons on my passenger's door don't work. It can only roll up the windown and not down. And with my buttons, I can roll it down and not up. I also found two wires under the glove box that were cut. Don't know where they are from ![]() -Gus. |

You need to clean the switches for the windows.
The passenger side window gets it's current from the drivers side passenger window switch. Clean this one first. Not that difficult to clean. A bit of a challenge to reassemble the first couple of times but doable. Trick is the direction of the spring contacts on the two internal points rockers. If you are up to it I can scan in some of the pieces and draw a diagram or two. I always have a spare window switch in the car right next to the spare DME relay.
