cannot get into gear- 944 S2 cab
Changed the slave cylinder because it had never been changed, the master is about 1year old I think (the slave was defective test driving before and after).
However, I still have intermittent issues getting into gear. I'll need to pull over, move the shifter around to different gears then try to get into 1st gear. Sometimes I'm close to grinding a gear when shifting (then I stop shifting and leave it in neutral). When I can get it into gear, release the clutch causes a "clunk" sound around the clutch plate area (back of engine). Sounds like something is worn and not engaging the transmission with the engine quick enough. I'm thinking shift issue is: A) shift cable no good- shift issue Clunk noise is: B) torsion shaft bearings C) faulty clutch release bearing Any ideas?

Your rubber-centered clutch disk has likely lunched itself.
Either become very familiar with your car during the replacement (~12 hours book time), or pay $$$ to have someone do it for you. Look into the clutch inspection hole in the bell housing and see if little rubber pieces are present.

Will do thanks. When replacing the slave, removing the starter came with small flakes of rubber like material.

Ha, thanks guys. I'll need a couple doughnut breaks with this job.
Guess it's a good chance to do the torsion bar bearings as well. Looking for the procedures rundown and parts list now. Anyone know the links? Can't seem to find them for the 944 S2 (checked here, clark's and youtube already).
