Aussie RHD 924 GT Carrera
Hi guys.
My name is Paul, and I live in Australia. I have just purchased a matching numbers 81 Silver 924 GT Carrera from another Pelican member. The car has a great history and includes log books. It is a RHD Australian delivered car, and excludes a sunroof. I am thrilled to say the least!! Early 2000 plenty of time, effort and funds were dedicated to this car to suit Australian road Targa conditions, sprints, and motorkhana events. The modifications are still fresh, as track time and kilometers was very limited. With this purchase, I have the challenge sourcing parts to return to original condition. The first objective is to get the car back on the road. I would like to restore the interior completely back to factory spec. The body is in great condition, but would like the car to be returned to show room condition inside and out. In terms of the mechanics, I’m inclined to retain the current set up as is, tuned for good road manners. And store sourced genuine parts. And I think the GTS headlights will stay put. Either way, it will be a fun project, and a cool car to own and share with others. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice pickup!
Pretty sure there was a thread about this in here last year? You must have bought it from that guy. Looks tidy and clearly someone has spent a bit of money modifying it. Is it running an aftermarket ECU? Can you take some closer pics of the intake manifold? Having that 90o bend in the pipe leading to the plenum isn't great. Looks like you could easily have that straightened out some which would improve things. Not urgent but something to consider. If you wind up changing that back to stock you will be able to sell the intake / ITB's pretty easily.

Congratulations,
That is a very nice looking car. Looks like it would be a lot of fun to drive and seems to be in very good condition. Hope you get to drive it on the track to get a feel for its capabilities. What state are you in? Eric

If this car is a genuine Carrera GT it would be worth much more if converted to stock.
Do you have original CIS injection parts, intercooler and intake? Also I would change wheels to original Fuchs but that's just me ![]() What about brakes, are they still original?

Are you a member of the PCNSW ? Worth joining and doing a few trackdays. There's quite a bunch of front engine fiends with a time spread of 1:17 down to 58.5 seconds around Wakefield...so you'll fit right in.

On the things to do list Patrick...Under a minute is very impressive at Wakefield. Go the front engine Porsche!!
I have found a great set of 911 Sport Seats 1981-1984 (manual) for the front. And 924 seats for the back. And werk924 provided a quotation to make complete seat covers for front and back + supply extra fabric to re-trim the door panels. To original spec. |

OMG I love this car!!!!!! Good for you! I would love to take it for a few hot laps! Must be a total hoot to drive.
IMHO, very subtle idea, but it would look cool to add the 968 era door handles to match the mirrors. I just restored my 931 (I posted link to pics a few days ago), and it has 968 mirrors but stock door handles. One of my 924board.org pals suggested I add the 968 door handles, I agree, and I just sourced a pair (luckily in black - just what I needed) from Pelican board member planetporsche. He has two more sets for sale in the classifieds (red or black), $225. EZ to paint silver to match.
