Reverse light switch - 968

My backup lights are not working, where is the switch under the car?

The reverse light switch is on the transmission. Should be one of two electrical connections on it. The other is the speedometer.

Should be top rear of the trans.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

The reverse lights on my 944 don't illuminate unless I apply extra pressure to the shifter. If the shifter is in Reverse, the lights are off unless I push back on the shifter a little bit. I'm guessing that this extra pressure is needed to engage the switch located on the transmission.

Is there any adjustment possible here or is the solution just a new switch? THanks!

Same for an SC?

Have an 81 SC and lights don’t come on when car in reverse. Same type of switch I assume? Where is it located? Anyone know? Thanks in advance.

You might want to ask this question on a 911 forum, not a 844 forum.

I happen to have an SC. On its 915 transaxle (also used on Carrera 84-85), the reverse light switch is mounted on the nose/very front of the unit, next to the shift selector shaft (where the shift rod connects). John
