The good news is the oil dipstick tube will fit with minimal bending. The good news is the aerodynamic flow efficiency of the piping is quite excellent, based on interior pipe consistent 2.5" diameter & smoothness. Ran into an unusual pickle with the downpipe elbow. The size of pipe doesn't match anything else I have in the garage. I don't want to half-a$$ it either, so came up with a solution that works. Chopped "lobster cuts" aka "pie cuts" out of the same pipe then slotted with jigsaw. then tacked and gradually spread to the exact diameter desired. The filled the big slot with mig wire. Then cleaned out any rough surfaces until baby smooth. The goal here is a clean exit from engine compartment & get into 3" diameter pipe as soon as possible. | ||
its starting to look like Christmas)) are you going to have wastegate plumbing dump fed into the main plumbing?
Brother, My plan is NOT to run the wastegate exhaust into the main exhaust. I don't yet know where it will be routed. That certainly is a limitation of the front feed exhaust... not a slick feed into the main exhaust. But my plan wasn't in that direction anyway. And I'm not running a cat converter so the environment won't benefit from that effort anyway. My initial thought is to dump it down through a wheel well. I want to hear it work. The 944 platform is so "connected" with the driver (except for the overly assisted power steering), I want to enhance the experience... with the turbo, if possible. So externally waste-gated in a manner where I will hear it!

Cut this body panel out completely on driver's side... never understood the point of it and it interferes. Last edited by Noahs944; 05-31-2017 at 11:11 PM..

Routed all intercooler piping. Successful, except got interference from the fresh filtered air and the driver's side IC piping. Will deal with that tomorrow & also radiator hoses will get figured out. Last edited by Noahs944; 05-31-2017 at 11:14 PM..

Noah - that panel you drilled a hole in, you can just drill out some spot welds and knock the hole thing out if needed. IIRC it was basically a splash shield left over from the 924 intake/air box.

Thank you uncle spencer I used a sawzall last night on that panel & the power steering reservoir and coil brackets to clean it up. Test fitted for headlight room... Needless to say, the driver's side was a no-go. Has been corrected to work with headlight this morning. Woohoo!

Big S. Its really cool what you did there. I love it. The led boxes fit perfectly in the body work. It would fit the modern look of the led lights I will be using. Thanks for sharing buddy

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5R7wQd3Rg8 The above is stock headers , catless and Dansk sport catback in Wilson around 2 years ago. It'll be interesting to compare the exhaust note of the 2 times 3" mufflers in combination with the turbo. With no cat and big exhaust do the 944 turbos sound okay?
