Can someone tell me what size are the pivot bolts and the tensioner attach bolt on the AC compressor? Bubba the butcher mechanic apparently worked on the car before my time and I found farm-type aluminum turnbuckles as tensioners, lots of odd washers and 3/8" bolts down there. The mounting holes are stripped and oval, a general mess. I plan to use stainless threaded inserts to repair the mounting ears in the AC compressor.
Thanks, Gene '86 944 NA Murfreesboro, Tennessee ps: some people should not be allowed to use a wrench. |

According to my Porsche dimensions / tolerances booklet two torque figures are given for the compressor 6mm and 8mm .
Looking at my Haynes manual it looks like the tensioner attach bolt is an 8 mm I'd look at my own car but there isn't much call for AC units over here in the UK and mine doesn't have one. 3/8" would roughly equate to 8 mm in the moron's guide to hamfisted mechanics though.

My compressor is off at the moment. I could check tonight when I get home if you don't find out sooner.

It's 6 and 8 mm. There are two different bolts.
