My Neighbor’s 928

My neighbor has a 1982 928 that has been sitting in her garage since her husband passed away about six years ago. The car is a five speed, and he had done a fair amount of work to it before he died, including reupholstering the interior and having the car painted. It has about 111k miles and looks to be in really nice condition, but, unfortunately, the late husband changed the color from some shade of blue to Guards Red. The job was really well done, but you can see it under the hood on the inside of the fenders. I have told her I’d be happy to drain out the old gas from the tank and fuel rails, top up the fluids, and try to start it for her, and we are just waiting for this crappy weather to pass.

She wants to sell it, and I’ll be happy to represent it for her to potential buyers, but I don’t know what to ask for it. The color change is the real kicker to figuring this out. Anyone have a general idea? I realize this thread needs photos, which I’ll get.

According to Hagerty Insurance, it may be worth $22,000 in good condition.

I would suggest checking in over on the Rennlist 928 forum. There is a lot more 928 traffic over there including a sticky near the top of the page exclusively discussing 928s for sale.

Repaints are not uncommon with these cars and their age.
