Call 928 specialists (website is www.928GT.com) and ask for Dave or Wally. They will probably be able to help you T/S the problem, and will happily sell you whatever 928 part you may need at a good price.

Or you can go to the nichols site.

I do remember reading an article about pulling the battery. Im no expert but i do believe it may take some time for the computer to reset. They advised hooking up a second battery to the terminals in the front before removing the battery.

Yes after connecting the battery I allowed 20 minutes for the computer to reset before trying it and that did it. It started right up.
Thanks

Hey np, anyway did your car run rough after it started or was it normal even though it started, apparently the comp needs sometime to get back on track, just curious and forgot to mention that.

I think it did run rought for a few minutes or so, after that it ran fine. Seems to be ok now. It is past do for a timing belt service.
It actually has the original timing belt in it 140k miles 20 years old,
kinda scary... I am not driving it.

Thanks

if im not mistaken but dont quote me on this, up to 82 928's you really dont need to worry about a broken belt(interference motor) good idea to change it out anyway. Im guessn your 928 is an auto? My 944 was an auto and the belt lasted forever (less torque perhaps).

I have a 1979 928 5 speed, vin#411 and a 1986 928 auto.
However I just sold my 1979 928 and am waiting for the buyer to pick it up. I just bought a 1983 Porsche 944 5 speed. I like the fuel economy, that is why I made the switch.
Here are pic's of both 928's. I will hope to put the 944 on my website soon.

I like the color, burgandy, I noticed Ca plates. Where abouts? Can you inform me of any 928,944 running or parts cars that you might come across. There seems to be an abundance in Ca. PM me if you come across anything. Thanks

I am also selling the burgandy 86' 928 auto. Could be driven daily if it had a timing belt service and some other things, worn drivers seat,
needs feoo r12, has crack in windshield. Runs good though.
I would sell it for $3,300.

Hmmmm interesting. Where in Ca though, northern isnt too far, southern adds more cost and time.
