Car running like bleep after it warms up

I drove my 83 5 spd for the first time in a month or so about 10 miles each way to and from Sharktoblerfest, and an issue its had for some time seems to be getting worse. Car starts easily hot or cold, but I am getting balky acceleration once it warms up, and it has a distinct "something wrong" sound even at cruise on the freeway. Its pronounced between 1500 and 3500 rpm with part throttle, and sometimes clears up with wide open throttle.

I'm thinking maybe ignition related, bad wires, dist cap, rotor, or maybe even coil, but I want to pull this engine ASAP and swap in the motor out of my 84 Euro S, so I have avoided anything that isn't essential. Well, its starting to feel essential, but not a few $100 essential like doing a full tune up.

Tonight I will take a look at it in the dark, see if I have a light show under the hood, give it a mist of water etc. Does this sound like maybe a weak coil?
