928 LS1 Desert hybrid Conversion

Has anyone done the Desert Hybrid 928 LS1 Conversion on a 5 speed car. I'm looking for feed back on the ease/difficulty of the swap. What was the quality of the parts & did they fit well, any problems etc. ? Please, I don't want to hear what a terrible thing I'll be doing, I'm killing the value of the car, the stock motor is better & will go faster for less money etc.

I've never heard of a "Desert Hybrid", main kit maker is Renegade Hybrids, and I only know of people that have used the LT1 kit. The LT1 928 kit was just the basic hardware, adapters for motor mounts and torque tube, with very little on the hard stuff like wiring harnesses. I'd call it something like a tuner kit sold for turbos that has some, but not all the needed parts. I don't know if they have a kit yet for the LS1.

Better to ask your questions on the Porsche Chevy conversion forums.

Kits help out for your first conversion, but enough fabrication and customization needs to be done that I think many would just as soon do the whole thing themselves depending on skills and resources.

Unless your stirring the pot, best place to talk about it is the forum I listed. Its not a cheap choice though, people can argue about it, but I don't see it breaking even in expense until you try and push the Porsche engine past about 400 rwhp.

No point in rehashing old opinions, if it tickles your funny bone do it or don't as you please. Its not a cheaper solution, and I'm not sure it is any more trouble free, but I stopped talking about doing things related to the 928 for rational reasons a long time ago.

Thumbs up

What kind of car is that a corvette?

That motor looks nice under the hood of a shark.

Thanks

I put the LT1 in quite some time ago, 2001 I think.
Since then its been bored and stroked and converted to an LT4.
Very reliable, easy to work on, and a lot less expensive than any of the Porsche alternatives of more HP.
