Replacing front splash guards on a 928 S4
The front wheel well splash guards on my 1988 928 S4 are looking rough so I am seeking input as to whether these are worth replacing (i.e. will they likely get trashed shortly after replacing them). Also, the splash guard seals are dry-rotted and need to be replaced. Should I buy the OEM Porsche seals or get some material and make my own?

I'm not sure what a splash guard is, do you mean the fender liner?

These are relatively inexpensive and my replacements came with the gasket. In refitting - use larger fender washers, new screws and speed nuts as needed to ensure the loads are balanced when bolting it on. (not too tight!)
I also recommend moving the alternator hose attachment off the drivers side splash shield. It almost always ends up getting ripped off - and its a stupid attachment idea anyway - making the installation & removal a much bigger pain than it should be. You can fabricate mounts on the internal fender brace for the stock "W" hose bracket and it will still just comfortably clear the headlight pod rotation arc. I'd say replace them if the rest of your car is in good shape. Alan
