Has anyone else had this problem?

I been having a few problem with an ignition switch and a no start.

Tonight I went to check a few things. I pulled the relay XV kickdown relay and a to my delight the car fired up! I stuck it back in and the car would not start again. I dont know why this would happen but im glad to get her back running again. so im wondering has this happend to anyone else or has anyone an idea as to why this would happen?

Wild guess

Kick down switch gets power from buss 15 like a lot of other stuff we have talked about, so it could cause trouble.

Buss 15 sends +12v to relay XV pin 15 (control input), and to CE panel B14 which goes to the switch and comes back to CE panel G25. G25 goes to relay XV pin 30 (power input), pin 87a is the relay power out which goes to CE panel U22 and that goes to the transmission solenoid.

A short to ground on any of those wires would mess up the voltage back at the buss 15 which has all the ignition on stuff connected to it. Find the short or maybe its a bad relay?

Thanks for the swift reply again Danglerb. its not a relay as iv changed it for a known good one.

can I ask you what do you mean by bus 15? I understand the rest but dont know what bus 15 is. I will check for bad graounds. also should I be able to see the transmission solenoid connections? If i can fix this once and foreall it would be great.

Buss is usually a strip of metal with several wires attached. In my wiring diagram its a thick black line with "15" above it. Buss 15 is the common connection for :

B11 the line to the ignition switch.
Q11 and 12 the lines to the ignition coils.
B14 the line to the kick down switch.
B23 the line to the Alarm Bridge.
Relay XV pin 15 control input to kick down relay.
Relay XX pin 86 control input to fuel pump relay.

Wire suspected a lot more than a relay, but its always a maybe.
