Pulling the trim and filling in the rubber on the 1/4 windows?

I was looking at a 928 the other day without the trim in the quarter window rubber, and I kind of like the clean look if there was a reasonable way to fill in the slot in the rubber the trim goes in. What do you all think?

I was thinking th same thing since it costs an arm and a leg for those trim pieces.

Up close I know I like the clean look, but I wonder about how it may look at 10 to 15 feet, will it look balanced and integrated to the rest of the car?

Anything that fills in rubber and doesn't show?

I have two sets of anodized aluminum trim for sale (entire, off two cars). PM me for your requests: both are in good shape.

since my car didn't have any 1/4 trim on it when I bought it, I didn't notice any difference---didn't know better at the time either, having seen so many up to then without the trim.....

I'm a long way from putting anything back together, but I suppose you could put black silicone in the trim channel if you wanted to run without trim?

What the heck....probably, only another 928 owner would notice the difference.

Now that I've seen it, I notice more than a few 928's are missing the quarter window trim, and to my weak old eyes presence or absence is not really apparent 15 or so feet away. What actually looks bad is trim thats bent or lost the black.

I have an entire's car worth on good aluminum trim I removed from our race-car donor: I can sell the entire thing, or trade you out for parts if desired if you wish to retrim your rubber.

I agree.....I always thought it was goofy that Porsche put the trim there.

As if it was an afterthought in production.

You must be looking at the bottom of the barrel type cars. I can't recall a single one at any of our norcal events that had the trim missing. And I certainly see it, not just because I have a product that lets you refinish them easily without removal or mess...

Nicole we aren't just looking at show cars at events, many of us look at ALL of them we can find, not just bottom of the barrel but sometimes under the barrel. With some hard work, or in my case a credit card, we put these car back on top of the barrel, and from 15 feet that barrel starts looking like a pedestal.

How much velvet rope do I need to keep people 15' away?

Yes, I have always thought you should be cordoned off Danglerb, but is 15' enough distance?!?!? HA HA HA

Is the window trim totally cosmetic or does it serve to lock the seal in place?

ask one of the guys who runs theirs over 200mph.....if the 1/4 glass blows out at that speed with trim, you can figure that the trim is just for looks.....(?)

The trim on mine is silver...i was wondering how it would look painted black, then i went on the Aussie web site with the cars in various colors and it looks like all the rear quarter window trims were black? Were all of the later cars black?

Nope, all of all the 928's were black. Somebody just polished off the factory finish on yours.
