Porsche Crest 1980 928 Is there a way to check the computer that might show codes like an us car

is there a way to check the computer in the car to let you know if there are any codes that show up, that might let you know whats going on with sensors and such. My info. light comes on once in awhile but then goes off, I don't know what that means. In a American made car when a service engine light comes on you can check the codes but how do you do this with a posrche 928? thanks

The 1980 doesn't store any error info as far as I know. First year you can talk to the brain is 87 with a upgrade to the 89 chips. The early cars you have to use a meter and actually measure the voltages at the sensors.

Early cars are also pretty simple, if its acting up, something is likely wrong. If you run down the symptoms maybe someone car sort out whats wrong or advise on which sensors to check.
