Does anybody else have antenna issues with the windshield variant
The radio reception in my S4 is horrible. It has a Becker radio like the ones placed into the GTS. I'm convinced the windshield antenna is the reason. Anybody else have this issue?
I'm thinking I will just put a GTs style antenna up on the roof and be done with it.

I get stunning reception in my 87 with windshield antenna and orig Blaupunkt, but I do live right in the heart of a Chicago... Maybe if you can find where the contacts are on the glass and clean them you could get better signal (I've done this before but can't recall which car of mine it was). I like the sans-antenna look that the windshield antenna provides, a know a lot of people like the looks of the roof antenna but in my eyes it is just a bit of clutter on a sleek shape.

In all three of my sharks I have got good reception with the windshield antenna. My problem is finding replacement windshields to replace with. I refuse to put an external on my cars, just another thing I'd have to wash and wax around, besides they look gay...

I picked up an "internal under-dash antenna". it is supposed to be tuned for FM frequency and is a simple install. I will let you guys know how it works out. I will check to see if I have a connection issue under by the windshield connection. The windshield unit reminds me of my Grandmother's 1977 plaid interior Nova antenna.

My '85 has an antenna amplifier of some sort mounted too, and I get good reception.
Occasionally, when one of the airplanes I am flying in flies through some ice, we get a bit of static on the radio. We can tell if the connections to the shark-fin antennas on the plane are getting corroded too- it does the same thing. A quick connector cleanup by the mechanics and the static goes away. I bet you've got a dirty contact somewhere. I don't listen to radio; south Florida radio SUCKS so I have my iPod attached to the stereo via input bus, I can select songs or artists or playlists from the head. That and the car is so screaming loud [I always drive with the windows down] that I can't hear much of the music anyway. N! |

I had great reception on my 87 until I had rock damage and insurance replaced it. Even though it was a Porsche part, my reception is not nearly as good as it was or as good as my other cars. It is better than the non antenna glass put in by the company before the Porsche glass was ordered.
