Shift lever installation question
A stock shift lever for an early 928 five speed is offset on the pins, unlike a short shift kit, which is centered on the pin holes.
So when you install a stock shifter, do you bring the shifter closer to the driver, or further away. My gut tells me it is supposed to offset away from the driver. Any help would be most appreciated. ![]() |

That offset you see is to make room for the springs, offset to the driver would be normal. If you don't use those springs than it doesn't really matter whether the main body is centered or not.
I don't know what the consensus is on those springs but I find discarding them has some benefits and they are not missed.

Must be anti rattle springs to keep everything tight against the clips. Mine are missing.
Thanks Mike. ![]() |
