Thumbs down Too rough for me....I'll pass, but you may want to check it out....

Saw this ad on Craig's list and thought, hummm.... An 84 with less than 60K. It's at an AAMCO in San Antonio and they hold the title because of a lien. It has an S4 fascia and it "runs" so I thought, what the heck, I'll check it out. The ad says the interior "needs work" (that is an understatement, it's totally trashed) and that the body is strait (that too is incorrect).

It has been rear ended so hard the battery well is crumpled. It has rear ended something and did a nose dive underneath what ever it came in contact with. It is now black but used to be a light tan (if I recall). The interior is totally trashed with no usable panels or dash components. The sunroof was supposedly left open for a while.. The car did run and the trans was supposedly rebuilt, but it hasn't been tagged since March 07. There is a pretty big exhaust leak up front and it's missing the A/C compressor, hoses and such. The passenger door doesn't open and the hatch doesn't shut. The tires are dry rotted and windshield is broken too. I only looked at it for about 5 min and decided I'd pass.

I did speak with one of the employee's at the shop and they said the guy (Carl I think) was motivated to sell and said I should wait a few days and offer him a grand that he may consider letting it for that because "he just wants it off the lot." There is little this car has to offer for me as my S4 is a 5-speed.

I understand someone from Austin with several 928s, is coming down tomorrow to look at it, Mark? If you have space and the cars to part out, maybe it's worth it to you.

I wonder what sort of warranty the tranny would have?

Without something specific that you need, seems like most of these bargain cars are problems best left to the seller. Especially if the seller has a skewed view of the real condition etc.
