928 S4 Cooling System Multiple Failures

Before tearing into my 928 S4 Im trying to get a rough idea on the extent of damages so I'lll know what to expect to replace and what will be necessary research for the repairs as I will be doing them myself.

First what happened:
The line to the heater coil from the motor came disconnected and all the coolant apparently came out because it over heated. I was told that the temperature guage will not give an accurate reading if no coolant is in the car because thats what it uses to get a reading. I didnt know I was over heating while driving on the interstate.

Poof... big cloud of white smoke engulfs me in the car and leaving a trail down the interstate like spy hunter. My 928 is white too

I found the core line hanging with the aluminum sleeve still inside the hose. Hooked it all back up, filled it with coolant and ran a few minutes while looking under the car to see if collant would leak onto the street. No coolant leaking, however OIL was dripping down like crazy and forming a puddle... This baffled me, but to make a long story short,.. External hairline crack driver side cylinder head right on an oil jacket... Excellent!!!

My car drives fine, no blown head gasket, doesnt miss a beat, however after 2 min the oil drips onto the exhaust manifold and smokes like crazy due to burnoff on the hot pipes...

I have milkshake in my coolant tank, the top passenger side of my radiator is hissing and green coolant is forming around the leak.

My questions are:
Did the overheating cause all the seals in my radiator to give up their ghosts?
Is the oil in my coolant tank coming from the oil cooler in the radiator?
Is there something I can do to fix it myself?
Do I need to change my water pump simply because I over heated ?
Seems like I do since everything else went out...

Thanks
Jeff

Where are you located, maybe somebody local to you can help?

I don't think overheating would do anything to the radiator.

My guess is the oil in coolant is from the cracked head. (see above).

There isn't anything you can't do yourself on a 928 as long as you have patience and ask plenty of questions. Having something else to drive for a month or two is essential.

I don't think overheating does anything to the water pump or the radiator, but replacing a head means a full timing belt service, so it may be time to replace it anyway.

Hopefully plenty of things still work fine, but make no mistake this could be a lot of work and expense to fix. No real point at guessing what "might" need replacing, open it up and find out.

Good advice.

Some serious damage here. You need to not start this car again. Drain and check oil for contamination.

Why did the hose come off? Was it recently serviced and left loose?
Headgasket(s) are fine? Unlikely.
Did you let the engine cool before adding the water?
