Well L->R should be:

1 Left window
2 Sunroof
3 Rear Wiper
4 Right Window

I have seen a few cars with 2/3 reversed -
not that it matters particularly but what I listed is stock.

The window switches are both the same.

what alan says

just as a matter of interest although the early and late switches are different nos in PET the differences are that they come with spade connectors on the wire and no connector (just rempve existing connector from spade conns and push new in same place) and a slightly different spring clip also easily removed from existing switch. Probably totally useless info..... but sometimes they come up on fleabay cheaper!

il stop waffling now

Actually the late switches should not be used in early cars they do not have such good contact sets - because they don't need to switch full current load of the motors... The changeover was in '90
