And we owe it all to Danglerb. and his juicer, not to be confused with the real Danglerb

Maybe there's hope in the future for MPBano to also make a comeback.

Pass! Lots of good people, but too many easily feelings hurt people there too. Way too much Control and Drama. Membership is growing a lot faster here than there and I really like the environment here. Still not understanding the Pay for Membership, then be timid and never cross the locals over there Forum. I'm good here Raymond

EIPtuningR32 06-04-2009 04:34 PM

i wasnt aware of any banning going on in that forum, but why would anyone ban Danglerb? i read that they said he didnt know what he was talking about and was annoying????? im afraid to know what they would think of me and my questions of "whats this ThInG" while pointing to the a/c compressor. :) :)

BB500 06-04-2009 06:06 PM

+1

I've never been a part of rennlist and after reading the tone of that thread on Danglerb it seems like a rather hostile environment where members behave like a group of high school football or hockey players that are in a locker room together (i.e. small penis syndrome).

Danglerb 06-04-2009 08:30 PM

Some may not realize just how "chatty" I was, here is a thread I started 30 days or so after joining rennlist, and two weeks before I found my first 928.
http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/928-forum/311211-how-nice-can-a-high-mileage-car-be.html

One of my idea threads that perhaps needed more thought.
http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/928-forum/312627-making-a-back-seat-that-someone-could-sit-in.html

Wacky idea that turned out much better.

I still have no idea whatsoever who "Danglerb." (my name with a period added) was, and many of those posts were deleted, but the writer skewered me pretty well, still funny stuff.

Hey there Mike. I thought I'd pop over here (hey, I do it once every 2 years or so dontcha know) and see what the buzz was. This is a great reply from you. I'm glad to see you're doing well, and if you're so inclined, I think your participation in any 928 discussion would be great .. here, Rennlist or anywhere. CHEERS!

You were very chatty, Mike.

I'm just shocked that there are so many Rennlisters that still have their panties in a bunch about you being allowed to post over there. I guess that goes back to the cliquish mentality though.

Nuf said. This is exactly what I am talking about. Your either in or out. I don't comply well with Groupies, they tend to swarm and attack if you form an opinion other than what they want to hear. I'd rather put my $$ into a 928 Part from the Big 3 than support that environment.

morriss 06-05-2009 06:09 AM

Hahahahahaha! I just got through reading those posts - what A-holes! However, I did like the "Save DanglerB" water tower, reminiscent of "Save Ferris." I have only been on this forum for a few months and I can honestly say I am glad you are here. You have offered more helpful advice to more people than anyone else.

heinrich 06-05-2009 06:19 AM

LOL. You know what's funny? You are here on Pelican throwing stones at those on Rennlist. All the while many Rennlisters are the same people who are here. The Germans say the English are stuck-up. The English say the Americans are boorish. The Americans say the Italians are egocentric. In the end, you are criticising yourselves. Because the 928 enthusiasts on Rennlist are you. And the 928 enthusiasts on Pelican are us.

You have no idea how frustrating Danglerb's posts were, 2 years ago, on Rennlist. Many were in fact deleted by the moderators. Either way, It doesn't matter. What I see here of Danglerb doesn't in any way come close to resembling what I saw 2 years ago from him on Rennlist.

Fabio421 06-05-2009 06:23 AM

Hi Heinrich. It's good to see you posting a little over here.

Danglerb, it looks like the tide has turned in your favor. :D

heinrich 06-05-2009 06:32 AM

Too many lists for me to keep up with Shawn :) There's Pelican, Rennlist and what's the other one .. Rennsport or something? I'm only here because I wanted to see what Mike has been up to, and I have to tell you, he seems cool.

Yup heinrich, you don't know me and I don't know you, but yes I feel you are one of those that are part of "that" clique. I was banned because RV went all postal on me and got his feeling hurt after trying to reason with him. Yes, I posted PM's when I shouldn't have, but they were word for word unmolested and got plenty of replies that it didn't sound like John/RV replies. Well, it was. And yes, RV pushed me to the edge and I told him I would go "toe to toe" with him. If you throw power trips on me, I will throw one back. If you met me in person, you would see that I would go out of my way to help you. I met a few 928ers here in San Diego and hope to meet more. Even Mike (among others) came to my house to try and get my 928 started. Mikes from Orange County. That's honorable.

Look and see of the environment here on Pelican, it's exactly how a Forum should run. No groups or cliques here. We help everyone with what we can and even throw in a little humor. No one bashes each other here.

I'm like that naturally too - though I have been working on that ... I have a very strong belief in freedom ... freedom of expression, thought, speech, doing whatever the hell you want with your life. I take serious offense to being told what to do. So I get what you're saying here. On the other hand ... you have to play in the sandbox ... and play well with others. I'm not immune to this, I almost got my ass banned when I was fresh on RL.

I will be in San Diego soon. Let's have beer. If Mike can make it down, I'd like to meet him also.

Spoken exactly what happened to me. New guy, trying to promote my website. Ok by one but not the other. Crash bang slam kapow!

The Beer Meeting sounds great. Let us know when you'll be down and I'll try and coordinate all here in SD and Mike.

heinrich 06-05-2009 06:56 AM

I think you'll find that with time, all wounds are healed. Rennlist has undergone a total management change. I was happy with the old management (as I was able to learn the rules before being toasted crispy like you) but the new management probably couldn't give a flying fig about the old beefs that were had with you/Mike/whoever. I invite you to check in with them and see what they say, I suspect they will welcome you ....

I'll be there the weekend of the 4th. I know that is a busy family time, but if you guys are around ... let's buy each other a few rounds and talk 928!

heinrich 06-05-2009 07:01 AM

It's only an hour and 26 from San Diego to OC ... maybe I can make a trip out there too. Always wanted to see the area.

Just remember, that's optimal time travel. There are traffic times that could be much much longer. OC is a straight shot on Interstate 5, but traffic happens here in SoCal.

heinrich 06-05-2009 07:15 AM

I thought of that :D ... but I'm interested in exploring the area anyway ... we'll see what can be done. I've never been down that far South - so I expect it will all be fun. Sitting 2 hours in traffic may be less fun for me OR Mike.

Fabio421 06-05-2009 10:01 AM

Yes, the traffic in SoCal is like no other I have ever experienced. Once I sat for almost three hours and moved only a few miles. As soon as I got to an exit I got off and went to a restaurant to bide my time. After eating I could see that the traffic had not subsided so I just got a hotel room and started my drive North again in the morning. Nowhere else on earth have I seen such madness. I would never be able to take that on a daily basis. The San Fran Bay area traffic was bad too but nothing like SoCal.

Have fun in Cali.

Yup, this is exactly why I am so glad I moved further South. Los Angeles County traffic is the worse. San Diegans have no clue what real Heart Attack making traffic is like. I always dread even the thought of driving anywhere in LA County. I am sure life expectancy is lower in LA because of the stress. Well, besides the daily Drive-by Shootings ;)

Heinrich, we'll have to agree to disagree when it comes to your comment about " the 928 enthusiasts on Rennlist are you and the 928 enthusiasts on Pelican are us". IMO, the Pelican 928 forum has similar demeanor/mentality as the Ferrari Club of America I belong to where people are tolerant of each other and are simply there to share their love and enthusiasm for the cars, not to mention are patient with trying to help newbies improve their knowledge/learning curve. The Rennlist 928 forum to me is the equivalent to the Ferrari Owners Club "FOC as I refer to it" whose members largely consist of "power hungry" people who need to fuel their egos at the cruel and inhumane expense of others, which is why I occasionally lurk on it and have not become a member.

And yes...all groups are going to have some a-hole or "off the wall" members, but Rennlist seems the club that specializes in them and fosters an environment that allows them to thrive. The threads I've read on Rennlist contain far more hate and suppression than any of the threads I have seen on other Italian, British, or German car forums I partipate in.

In closing, I would like to see this thread "locked" as it is apparent that the opinions of many Rennlisters can't and won't be changed, making this thread a waste of everyone's time and energy.

I believe what he was saying is that we make up the forums. It is what you make it. You can make it better, you can make it worse or you can let things remain the way they are. It is entirely up to each and every one of us.

As for having this thread locked..... why?

Danglerb 06-05-2009 11:59 AM

We locals have our ways of getting north or south quickly, taking the 15 instead of 5, toll road system, but mostly its knowing the traffic times and avoiding them. Devilinblack has been trying to get some of us SoCal 928 owners together for a couple months, even going to the trouble of scheduling the meetings on amateur accordion night, but a much higher percentage of our 928's are currently running than a few months ago.

I waiting to hear from admin@rennlist.com, looking at old threads to pass the time. Gee some of them did get heated.

I really appreciate the kind words and support. ;)

The last time I checked this was a 928 technical forum that is suppose to be fun and helpful, not a political forum filled with trash talk :)

Fabio421 06-05-2009 12:06 PM

Filled with trash talk? There has been some healing happening in this thread. Maybe you aren't privvy to the history but I assure you, good things are happening here.

No, I'm not privvy to the history so thank you for shedding some light on the purpose of this discussion as I now understand this thread is about healing instead of a stirring up a heated debate that could potentially dividing different groups of 928 enthusiasts further :)

Group therapy for 928 owners is part of tech support. Most of us would be screwed without the rest of us helping, so anything that helps the community helps us all.

Some jungle advice, Just eat the noodles. Skip the threads that don't interest you.

In my defense, the accordion thing was NOT planned. I was just trying to set up a monthly dinner for anyone that wanted to show at the local German club's bar/restaurant. The nights I picked just happen to coincide with some local accordion clubs informal monthly gathering. Moving the first one to Hooters actually worked well but the girl I was seeing at the time made it clear she was not a fan of Hooters and would not go with me to any future events I scheduled there. She's no longer an issue.

I posted on RL about trying to set up something between LA and SD, but I would certainly make the trip to SD if Leo or anyone else puts something together.

As for visiting OC let us know what you're interested in seeing/doing and we will figure something out.

BrendanC 06-08-2009 12:33 PM

Hooters is always best. Can't really go wrong.
